Acoustic glass is a type of glass that is specifically designed to prevent more outside noise from entering the home than standard glass options.
It’s made by laminating two layers of annealed glass together with a layer of Polyvinyl Butyral, a special type of plastic that absorbs sound, sitting between them. This makes it appear as one single pane of glass, although it is, in fact, much thicker. Mass is the best way to absorb sound, meaning the thickness of acoustic glass makes it much better at sound absorption than standard glass. By absorbing more noise than standard glass, less sound can enter the home.
Contact UsOur acoustic glass can reduce the level of outside noise by up to more than 50dB. To put this into perspective, a busy road measures about 70dB in noise. This is significant because World Health Organisation guidelines recommend that noise levels should be no higher than 50dB in general living areas or 40dB at night. However, only 20dB of noise from a busy road will be heard in a home that has acoustic glass fitted to it, which is even quieter than a whisper!
Excessive noise can make it extremely difficult to relax when you’re at home. Plus, it can lead to high blood pressure and other health problems. So, if outside noise is interfering with your homelife, we recommend you consider acoustic glass for your windows.
