“Droylsden Glass replaced 31 windows and a door in only five days. What a smashing job, we’re really pleased” Janet Sculthorp, Bursar
Gorse Hall Primary School had two major maintenance contracts to be completed this year. One was to replace 18 leaking roof lights and the other was to replace and upgrade a large number of windows and a door. As usual though, all the work needed to be completed during the school’s holiday periods while the children were not on site.
In keeping with the guidelines the school obtained three quotations for each project and although Droylsden Glass was not the cheapest, everyone felt that they promised the best value for money. What’s more, because the school had used the company on a previous occasion, they were very confident that the work would be completed to the required quality and within the critical time frames.
The first project was to install the 18 pyramid roof lights and although it was a major task, everything was completed as planned within the summer shut down.
Phase two though involved a much tighter schedule. All 31 existing windows had to be removed and the new thermally efficient frames and glazing had to be fitted, plus the door, all within the October half term one-week break.
Thanks to careful planning and their experienced installation team, Droylsden Glass moved onto the site on the first day of the break and by Friday afternoon had installed all 31 windows to a number of classrooms, including the Special Educational Needs room and the Rainbow Room, plus the Deputy Head’s office. For good measure the replacement door was also fitted.
Everyone at Gorse Hall Primary School was delighted when the children returned for their first day back. All the new windows were in place, the classrooms were brighter and warmer, and of course the school can look forward to a far more energy efficient future.
“Everything was left clean and tidy, it was absolutely great,” complimented a delighted Janet Sculthorp.
