Expand your living space with a bespoke glazed extension

Adding a glazed extension, like an orangery or conservatory to your home is a fantastic way of raising your property’s value. But not only that, as a result of the extra living space they provide, you’ll be able to change the way you use your home.

A glass roof kitchen extension is a popular choice amongst homeowners, although you might prefer a rear extension with a lantern roof instead. However, there's no need to limit yourself as the possibilities with a glazed extension are almost endless. All you need to do is tell the team at Droylsden Glass what you’re after and we’ll work with you to determine the best way to achieve it for your Greater Manchester home.

Whether you'd like an orangery or conservatory, a glass roof lantern or a tiled roof, we've got a variety of options to suit both your aesthetic and practical requirements. But whichever you choose, you can expect to benefit from a thermally efficient, highly secure extension of your living space. All of our glazed extensions come with a 10-year guarantee as standard, giving you the assurance that your new extension will be made from only the highest-quality materials.

How much do glazed extensions cost?

There is no set cost for glazed extensions as they differ so much in their design. However, some of the main factors affecting their price include:

This list is not extensive and there are other factors affecting the cost of glazed extensions. If you'd like to discuss them in more depth or you have a query, feel free to get in touch with us to discuss it further.

    Popular glazed extension styles

As we mentioned above, a glass roof kitchen extension is very popular with homeowners at the moment. However, a lantern roof is just as good when creating a bright and spacious kitchen extension.

Many homeowners like the idea of glazed lean-to extension too. This might take the form of a lean-to conservatory (pictured left), which is a minimalistic conservatory style with a contemporary edge. Or, it might just take the lean-to style as a starting point and build out from there to create something very different.

Whatever ideas you have in mind, feel free to run them by our expert team first. We specialise in turning your home improvement dreams into reality and will be more than happy to offer our advice.

Energy-efficient conservatories and orangeries for your Manchester home

As they’re predominately made up of glass, many of our customers have concerns that a glazed extension will be a drain on their energy bill. Rest assured, however, that this is simply not the case. We strictly use only the best performing double glazing, plus we offer a variety of glass options to improve thermal performance further or reduce solar gain. If thermal performance is your main priority, you could even choose a tiled roof over a glass one.

A secure solution for adding more living space

As an extension of your current home, a glazed extension provides access to your main property. Therefore, it’s important for it to be just as secure as the other areas of your home. Here at Droylsden Glass, we fully understand this so ensure to solely use high-quality, robust framing and glass. Any windows and doors that a glazed extension has been fitted with will also utilise advanced security features like multipoint locks and anti-lift technology, so the security of your home will always remain intact.

Extend your home with our flexible finance options

We make extending your home as easy as it can be by allowing you to spread payments over a period that better suits yourself. Our excellent finance options include 5 years interest-free credit whilst you can also choose to buy now and pay later for a conservatory, orangery or one of our roofing options. This means there is plenty of flexibility to be taken advantage of.

    Planning permissions for glazed extensions

You may be wondering whether you need planning permission for a new conservatory, orangery or home extension. Recently, planning regulations have been relaxed meaning that more homeowners are able to extend without having to apply for planning permissions.

Do you need planning permission for glass extensions?

Single story extensions are covered by these permitted rights as long as the extension doesn't exceed the original home by more than 3m on attached properties. For detached homes, the extension shouldn't extend the rear of the original home by more than 4m.

However, there are exceptions to the regulations. For example, properties in conservation areas. If you are unsure about your specific property, we can advise on whether planning permissions will be needed, and the best solution for your home.
