Case Study: New Build SIP Extension in Hattersley, Hyde

Our clients for this project had recently moved into this new build property in Hattersley. They wanted to create additional living space for the family and to link to both the existing lounge and kitchen area. Having worked with Droylsden Glass when they lived in a previous property, they were confident that we were the best choice to help with their home improvement plans.

New SIP Build Extension

The client for this project wanted to achieve a certain look for the exterior of their new extension. After discussing the client’s requirements, they decided to go for a SIP build extension with Anstone Black Old Weathered Split face stone slips. The aesthetic of these products has been developed to perfectly match the appearance of natural stone types found in Northern Britain.

This finish was not available as a standard ‘on the shelf’ option. Therefore, the team at Droylsden Glass had to work hard to source this specific finish to provide our clients with the perfect aesthetic for their new home extension.

The SIP panels themselves were 147mm panels with glulam lintels. All preparatory work was completed including piling for the foundations and providing SAP calculations to ensure that all building regulations requirements were easily achieved.

Equinox Warm Roof

SIP build extension

When planning this new home extension, it was imperative to ensure that the extended living space would provide a warm and comfortable living area that could be used all year round. To do this, our clients opted for an Equinox Warm Roof.

The Equinox Warm Roof is a fully ventilated roof system that can achieve an impressive U-value of 0.15 W/m²K. To maximise natural light intake and create a bright and airy room interior, we incorporated two Vega fixed roof lights into the roof’s design. The roof was completed with a Titanium Grey Britmet Shingle roof finish which perfectly complements the natural stone effect walls.

Deceuninck 2800 Casement Windows and matching French Doors

SIP build extension

To complete the project, the glazing element included three sets of large uPVC casement windows. At the gable end of the extension, we installed a bespoke triangular window to create a large, glazed area. We also installed a set of uPVC French doors to provide easy access to the client’s garden area.

All frames included Ecopane ‘A’ rated double glazed units (low E / low iron) with a WER energy rating of A+ 10. The casement windows use a Yale shoot bolt multipoint locking mechanism with SBD glass locks & hinge guards to maximise security.  The French doors incorporate an Avantis SBD multipoint door lock with opposing chamfered security hooks and twin fix cylinder guard.

Another Happy Droylsden Glass Customer

Our clients were absolutely delighted with the overall standard of the project and left us this glowing customer testimonial:

‘Excellent company, brilliant finish – Rick and the team communicated with us brilliantly throughout the process. All the builders communicated with us really well. They arrived when they said they would, and the quality of their work was excellent. The work they did was not intrusive and respectful to our neighbours, especially in terms of noise and working hours. The finish of the room is very high, and we are very pleased with it. We would thoroughly recommend Droylsden Glass.’
