Homeowners in Hoole came to us as glazing specialists to install secondary glazing to their traditional property to improve thermal efficiency and reduce acoustic noise affecting their home life. After seeing the high quality of our window and door portfolio and being recommended via friends, these Hoole homeowners knew we could do the job for them.

Secondary glazing for conservation area properties

Our Hoole client’s property is located within a conservation area and had aluminium windows installed a couple of years ago. We proposed that secondary glazing could be installed to remain sympathetic to the original window designs to maintain the property’s heritage.

The property underwent some internal modifications, which included repairs to the stone mullions and had some period leaded lights that were encapsulated by secondary glazing to preserve their longevity.

Internal Secondary Glazing

Traditional windows and doors for properties in conservation areas

At Droylsden Glass, we understand the importance of planning permission in conservation areas. Homes that fall into these areas can be restricted in their home improvement plans. We made sure we offered home improvements that would complement the homeowner’s local area whilst offering energy efficiency and reducing external noise entering the property, staying in keeping to the required aesthetic.

We used Incarnation Secondary Glazing with vertical and horizontal sliders in 4mm glass, framed in white to complement the property and reduce the heat loss our homeowners were experiencing. We also provided Safeguard front and back composite doors in dual colours of black and white with uPVC surrounds to create a substantial appearance to be in keeping with the property. We included an aluminium low threshold for both doors to avoid trips and falls and implemented additional security features by installing an SM Hook lock radius end mechanism and Ultion cylinder locks for optimal home security.
