Here at Droylsden Glass, we are no strangers to Cheshire’s homeowners; we often venture to this charming county to enhance their homes. For a recent project of ours, we travelled to picturesque Prestbury to see Mr & Mrs Claffey about improving theirs!
Years of service dating back to the 1990s!
The Claffey family own a number of care home facilities in and around Greater Manchester, which we’ve had the pleasure of working on over the years; we even renovated their Doves Nest Care Home in Manchester with a set of uPVC windows way back in the 1990s! So, when Mr & Mrs Claffey wanted to renovate their Prestbury home and turn into a contemporary living space, they knew just who to call – us!
Creating a wall of glass with Anthracite Grey aluminium curtain walling
Using an aluminium curtain wall system, we created a wall of glass at the front and back of the Claffey’s property. Thanks to the system’s slender frames that came with a modern Anthracite Grey finish, it was the perfect choice for creating the contemporary home that Mr & Mrs Claffey were after. Such vast amounts of glazing also mean their property will always benefit from lashings of natural light.
Outstandingly efficient flat aluminium rooflight for year-round comfort
We also fitted a flat aluminium rooflight, continuing with the minimalist/modern aesthetic the Claffey family were after. This featured a combination of thermally broken aluminium frames, Argon filled triple glazed unit and Warm Edge Super Spacer technology, resulting in one of the best thermal performances of any rooflight: U-values of just 0.7 W/m2k! As a result, they could enjoy a thermal performance fit for today, tomorrow and the future, leaving them to enjoy their remodelled home in true comfort for many years to come.
Securing the property with a Platinum Grey aluminium door
Finally, we fitted an aluminium door with a Platinum Grey finish, a contemporary aesthetic that blended in beautifully with the other grey features on Mr & Mrs Caffey’s Prestbury home.
But as is the case with any door or window, expert protection against forced entry attempts is essential. This aluminium door came fitted with an AV2 slam shut multipoint locking mechanism, meaning it came reinforced against forced entry attempts right around the door’s frame. Now, the Claffey family can enjoy complete peace of mind that their transformed, contemporary-looking home not only looks great but is safe and secure too.
