MBC Building Contractors (NW) Ltd, Chadderton

Having been so impressed with the replacement windows in the Zochonis Building, Manchester University insisted on the same for Denmark Road.- Mr Mark Brierley, Director

The University’s Estate Office is a historic building on Denmark Road, Manchester, so when it was decided to replace the old draughty wooden windows they asked the maintenance contractor, MBC, to make sure that they used Droylsden Glass who had recently designed and installed the latest heat saving windows in the University’s Zochonis Building.

Because this is such an important old building the new PVCu frames manufactured by Droylsden Glass had to match the style and profile of the original old wooden sash windows. Not only did they achieve this, but Droylsden Glass also fitted the latest energy efficient double glazed units to reduce heat loss and improve the level of comfort for the occupants.

As an additional challenge, this beautiful old building also included a number of ornate decorative glass archway style windows, but once again Droylsden Glass were able to produce exact replacement windows that faithfully matched the originals.

Crofter Construction Ltd, Glossop

“These days when we’re asked to tender for a job that includes windows or doors, we only go to one supplier for a price.” – Mr Oliver Crowton, Director

Droylsden Glass has been a preferred supplier of Crofter Construction for 25+ years and have developed a long-standing relationship between both companies.  As a result, Crofter Construction have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the company’s aluminium and PVCu windows, doors and conservatory structures to any of their customers.

In fact, Crofter Construction are so impressed with the quality and value of the Droylsden Glass products, as well as the standard of their after sales service, that now instead of spending time obtaining comparison costs from a number of manufacturers they know they only need to speak to Droylsden Glass because they are fully confident that they will receive the best products and the best prices as well as unbeatable service.

Peak Builders (NW) Ltd, Romiley

“Over the years I’ve used many different window companies, but since I was recommended to Droylsden Glass they’ve become my first choice.” Mr Jeff Niland, director

As a well-established building company Peak Builders is involved in a wide range of development projects for a broad spread of industrial, commercial, social and domestic clients. For the past few years, however, whenever the contract calls for new or replacement windows or doors, the first company they get in touch with is Droylsden Glass.

“Droylsden Glass are totally dependable,” says Jeff Niland. “They know what they’re talking about, produce fantastic products and they provide a quality service at a good value for money price. I’ve built up a great one-to-one relationship with them.”

Currently Peak Builders is hoping to secure the contract for a sizable domestic basement conversion and ground floor extension. If they get it then the bi-fold doors and the two big rooflight installations will certainly be another job for Droylsden Glass.

Bardsley Homes

“Droylsden Glass work well with our office, site staff and the construction teams, but best of all they never cause me any hassle.” – Graeme Spencer, Commercial Director

Bardsley Homes has been consolidating its reputation for quality, design and value throughout the North West for over forty years. Over the past few years this award winning company has worked closely with Droylsden Glass as a preferred partner to design, manufacture and install high quality and stylishly elegant windows and doors on two of the company’s prestigious developments: a luxurious canal-side housing complex at Worsley and the exclusive homes built on the fringes of Dukinfield Golf Club.

Following the initial success of these two developments Bardsley has now completed Phase 2 and once again Droylsden Glass were the main contractors for all the windows and doors.

At ‘The Boatyard’ in Worsley, Droylsden Glass collaborated on the design and then manufactured and installed all the bespoke black on white PVCu energy saving frames and the latest environmentally efficient glazing, some of which incorporated distinctive Georgian glazing bars into the design. They also installed matching double doors at the rear of the properties, plus attractive colour co-ordinated composite front doors. All these products were manufactured and installed to the latest ‘Secure by Design’ standards.

At Dukinfield Golf Club Droylsden Glass again contributed to the concept of the windows, which were manufactured with distinctive grey on white frames and were designed with a dummy sash profile to enhance the sightline of the properties. Rear double doors and stylish composite front residential doors were also installed to continue the visual appeal of the properties. As at ‘The Boatyard’ everything was manufactured and installed to the most stringent ‘Secure by Design’ standards.

What particularly impresses Bardsley Homes about Droylsden Glass is the level of interest and responsiveness demonstrated by the company. “Nothing seems to be too much trouble,” commented Graeme Spencer. “The level of communication, commitment and consistency is excellent, and of course the quality and visual appeal of the products are an integral part of our sales success.”

Pepperl+Fuchs GB Limited, Oldham

“We received sound advice, backed up by first class service and excellent value for money.” Stephen Fairbrother

With the old glass paneled entrance way to their office building looking tired, Pepperl+Fuchs decided that the time had come to update it with a modern, energy efficient replacement. Consequently they approached a number of firms for advice and prices.
The company that impressed them most was Droylsden Glass, who having surveyed the project came up with a sound new design for the glazed aluminium curtain walling and entrance doors. Importantly, in addition to the stylish appearance, the Droylsden Glass proposals also included the latest thermally efficient framework and glazing specifications, including Pilkington ‘Active’ Neutral self-cleansing outer panes paired with low emissivity inner panes for enhanced thermal performance and cost effectiveness. Pepperl+Fuchs were delighted with the professionalism of the Droylsden Glass team and the efficient way in which the contract was completed on time.

A very professional job that has greatly improved the appearance of our premises,” commented Stephen.

Holden Clough Primary Community School, Ashton-under-Lyne

“Droylsden Glass took care of all the red tape on our behalf. We were very pleased with their whole service.” Mrs Beverley McGowan, Head teacher

As Mrs McGowan says, “We’re teachers, not builders, so when it comes to commissioning new windows and suchlike for the school, we’re stepping well outside our comfort zone.”

What the school particularly liked about Droylsden Glass was that not only were their prices extremely competitive, but they were willing to spend plenty of time with them to discuss ideas as well as providing lots of good advice so that they could make informed choices.

The other benefit was that because they had worked within so many local schools in the past Droylsden Glass were very au-fait with all the legal and other official requirements regarding educational establishments. The company took on all those responsibilities, such as liaising with the authorities and providing all the necessary documentation, so that everything was approved first time without complications.

As regards the windows, Droylsden Glass removed a long length of old timber windows and replaced them with modern PVCu frames and aluminium curtain walling for added strength and minimal maintenance. The school also chose anti-sun double glazed units to improve classroom comfort.

As part of the project Droylsden Glass also installed new aluminium fire escape doors complete with child-friendly anti-finger trap door stiles and panic bar releases.

All in all the school was more than impressed with the Droylsden Glass service, especially the fact that the job was completed as scheduled during school holidays and that on their return everything was left clean and tidy with no disruption for the children or staff.

Gorse Hall Primary School, Stalybridge

“Droylsden Glass replaced 31 windows and a door in only five days. What a smashing job, we’re really pleased” Janet Sculthorp, Bursar

Gorse Hall Primary School had two major maintenance contracts to be completed this year. One was to replace 18 leaking roof lights and the other was to replace and upgrade a large number of windows and a door. As usual though, all the work needed to be completed during the school’s holiday periods while the children were not on site.

In keeping with the guidelines the school obtained three quotations for each project and although Droysden Glass was not the cheapest, everyone felt that they promised the best value for money. What’s more, because the school had used the company on a previous occasion, they were very confident that the work would be completed to the required quality and within the critical time frames.

The first project was to install the 18 pyramid roof lights and although it was a major task, everything was completed as planned within the summer shut down.

Phase two though involved a much tighter schedule. All 31 existing windows had to be removed and the new thermally efficient frames and glazing had to be fitted, plus the door, all within the October half term one-week break.

Thanks to careful planning and their experienced installation team, Droylsden Glass moved onto the site on the first day of the break and by Friday afternoon had installed all 31 windows to a number of classrooms, including the Special Educational Needs room and the Rainbow Room, plus the Deputy Head’s office. For good measure the replacement door was also fitted.

Everyone at Gorse Hall Primary School was delighted when the children returned for their first day back. All the new windows were in place, the classrooms were brighter and warmer, and of course the school can look forward to a far more energy efficient future.

Everything was left clean and tidy, it was absolutely great,” complimented a delighted Janet Sculthorp.

All Saints Primary School, Gorton, Manchester

“We chose Droylsden Glass because they showed that they really cared and understood exactly what we were looking for.” – Mrs Sylvia Barrow, Head Teacher

For some time All Saints had been planning to swap their old, draughty wooden windows with smart new energy efficient windows, but they were determined that the replacements would not only bring lots of benefits for the school, but would not detract from the original appearance and character of the building.

Naturally they approached a number of companies for proposals and quotations, and they chose Droylsden Glass, not because they were the cheapest, but because the school felt that they offered the best value for money and also because of the helpful advice they provided, the care and interest they displayed and the reassurance they offered.

One of the issues was that the school wanted to retain the high level opening style of the original windows, but because of their height opening them had always posed a difficulty. Droylsden Glass overcame this problem by recommending a manual remote operating system so that the new windows could be easily opened from ground level.

All the windows were successfully replaced during the school’s summer shut down period and on their return the pupils and staff alike were all delighted with their smart, white, energy efficient PVCu frames and the low emission glazing units that ensured the school now had brighter, warmer and far more comfortable classrooms.

So impressed, the school came back for more
All Saints was so impressed with the quality of the windows and the standard of the service they received that when they were considering how to improve and better utilise an enclosed outside space at the school, they once again contacted Droylsden Glass. The recommendation was to design and install a conservatory type structure, complete with heating that could be used for a variety of purposes, including school meetings, group work and even the after-school gardening club.

Despite a very tight timeframe in which to complete the project over the February half term break; Droylsden Glass completed everything within an incredible three days.
